Software QA Engineer - Applications

The successful candidate will work with our development team to ensure that product design is in accordance with quality requirements. In this position you will: develop manual testing programs and systems to verify the correct performance of instrument control and data processing software for spectroscopy applications. Work with software developers to create and execute structural (white box) testing. Specialize in user requirement analysis to design and conduct integration and functional test plans for molecular spectroscopy and microanalysis instrument control and applications software under development. Document results and provide feedback used to improve the final product. Participate in process improvement for software quality and usability.

Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Minimum requirements: BS in Chemistry or one of the Natural Sciences with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in chemical analysis and analytical instrumentation in an academic or industry environment.

Ability to design test plans and test protocols for computer controlled instrumentation in a Microsoft Windows environment. Knowledge of computer hardware and networking is a plus. Special consideration given to candidates with experience or formal training in quality assurance, software testing processes, FT-IR/UV-Vis/X-ray analysis, or GxP regulatory compliance.

Minimum skills
Use existing test scripts to verify performance of instrument control and data processing software in spectroscopic analysis applications. Ability to design and execute test cases for structural, integration and functional testing, document software bugs, document tests to verify bug fixes, utilize a software defect tracking system and perform work in compliance with ISO software and product development processes and procedures. Ability to set up and configure spectroscopy systems and accessories for application-specific analysis.

Desired skills
Knowledge of and ability to configure computer hardware and software. Knowledge of software quality assurance good practices.
