Software Solutions Engineer

This opening is for a software solutions engineer who will work directly with PowerSchool customers to provide application, reporting and database enhancements as requested by the customers. The candidate hired will excel in the areas of project management; technical analysis and in engineering complex data extracts and/or reporting solutions. The candidate will be presented with customer requirements and, in turn, will estimate project scope, define and build project deliverables, or software solutions that are derived from these requirements.

Responsibilities:
' Work closely with customer to collect requirements. Perform end-to-end project management required to deliver software solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations
' Perform technical analysis and design application enhancements in the areas of data collection, extraction and manipulation, as required to deliver data requested by customer
' Modify and/or enhance html pages to provide UI required for customer required data collection
' Master PowerSchool data model and work with database team to design schema changes as needed
' Demonstrate an ability to write structured, efficient queries
' Build reports for customer through use of java classes, RDL report definition, SQL editor (e.g. jiSQL), or XML based reporting engine










Qualifications:

' Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent professional work experience.
' Five or more years of practical software engineering and/or management consulting experience
' Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as ability to effectively manage a customer relationship
' Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting customer expectations
' Expertise in software development life cycle, including analysis, design and coding, testing and deployment
' Familiarity with sound data modeling practices and database query principles
' Experience with HTML, SQL/PL-SQL, XML, Java and/or other object oriented programming languages
