We are a vital part of the Engineered Products & Services segment of Tyco, which boasts $4.7 billion in revenues and offices in more than 40 countries.The Oakland office is looking for a Specifications Manager to independently prepare equipment and construction specifications from input provided by discipline engineers for medium and large projects which include planning, organizing, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, directing and reporting. Typical activities:


Assist Project Manager with the preparation of the budget and schedule

Organize and arrange for staffing in accordance with requirements

Prepare deliverables and coordinate the same with client, Deliverables encompass specifications, and progress reports

Evaluate progress and take corrective action required to maintain project schedule and budget

Conduct technical reviews of specifications with client and obtain client approval before proceeding

Identify changes or additions to scope of work

Resolve any unique administrative requirements such as special specification formats, etc

Approve specifications upon completion and ensure compliance with company procedures

Directly mentor senior technical staff

Requirements:

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Architect from an accredited College plus a minimum of 15 years of design work experience, a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken english, and a Certificate of Qualification from the Construction Specifications Institute.
