SR. BUYER

The Metals group, located in Tucson, AZ is currently looking for an experienced Sr. Buyer to hire on a direct basis. RESPONSIBILTIES

? Evaluates suppliers and fabricators.

? Prepares commercial evaluations.

? Negotiates with vendors on price and delivery and issues Purchase Orders.

? Assumes the duties of the Purchasing Agent in their absence.

? Reviews requisitions and related purchase requests for accuracy, vendor selection, completeness of attachments and initiates inquiries following established procedures.

? Expedites, receives and distributes quotations

? Negotiates all commercial details including deliveries, terms and conditions, terms of payment, escalation and prepares the Commercial Bid Analysis for review and approval.

? Prepares and issues Purchase Orders and Change Orders

? Maintains close working relations with Project management, Cost Control, Scheduling Inplant QA/QC and Accounting Departments in placement of orders and instructions concerning cost and delivery schedules.

? Handles all correspondence concerning changes in Scope of order and pricing and maintains contact with vendors on Purchase Orders issued through manufacturing period.

? Will periodically review the Senior Buyer's work and guide accordingly.

? Reviews vendors' invoices for correctness and assists when required in expediting materials and equipment on orders placed.

? May make visits to vendors' facilities to review their capabilities and confirm their acceptability as a viable supplier or to expedite late deliveries and negotiate changes in Scope of the order.

? May make job site visits to negotiate with vendors at the site.

? Assists the Purchasing Agent in the development of bidders' lists and established new sources for the supply of material and as qualified subcontractors.

? Accountable for following all company, departmental and project purchasing procedures.

? Maintains the highest standard of professional and ethical behavior in relations with vendors, subcontractors, department co-workers and other departments' personnel.

? Accountable for the technical and mechanical accuracy of outgoing inquiries, bid tabulations, and Purchase Orders and for meeting the established schedules for the issuance of same.

? Maintains a current knowledge of products, materials, vendor sources, current pricing trends, shop loads and delivery schedules.

? Keeps the purchase cost for materials and equipment below budget without sacrificing quality or adversely affecting schedules through the use of qualified reputable suppliers and realistic negotiations.

 

 MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

? Minimum 5 years experience in Materials Management/Procurement with at least 3 years in the engineering/construction industry.

? Must possess qualifications to work with their co-workers within the department and interrelate with the staff of other departments.

? Knowledgeable background in purchasing techniques and procedures and knowledge of equipment and/or materials required for the various plants being furnished by the company.

 

EDUCATION

? Degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent but not mandatory with qualifying supplementary courses and seminars.

 

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE

? Microsoft applications



 

 

 PHYSICAL LABOR REQUIREMENTS (field work, climbing, heavy lifting):

 

? Work is performed in an office setting; however lifting of items up to 30 lbs may be required with the course of work activities.

? Work is generally performed in an office setting, however occasionally an employee may be required to visit project areas.

 All variations of weather may be encountered during these visits.  An employee may need to transverse uneven terrain and work

 around moving equipment.

? Must be able to conduct work within in all environments safely without incident.

? Must be able to perform the minimum requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
