Sr. Design Engineer - E06003

ALSTOM Power Inc., a world leader in the supply of power generation services and equipment is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer for its Power Services Sector located at the Windsor, CT headquarters.

 

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for complete efficient design of equipment used in Air Pollution Control Systems as well as provide direction for installation and start-up services. Other responsibilities would include mechanical design in support of  Parts Development and R&D projects.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

?  Establish equipment design criteria and required operating characteristics based on existing system operations and project contract documents

?  Support of the procurement effort for equipment, fabrications and services purchased directly by Alstom Power (AP)

?  Provide Technical Support in meetings with customers, architect/engineer, vendors and others

?  Assure that components and systems designs are selected which optimize efficiency and profitability

?  Review new and developing technologies and equipment or related processes for possible application by AP

?  Provide Material and Engineering estimates in support of the proposal process

?  Develop Process Flow Charts and Descriptions

?  Co-ordinate work interfaces with Electrical and Structural Engineers

 

Abilities:

 Knowledge and use of AutoCadDemonstrated basic capability using PC based Microsoft Office ProductsTechnical competence in designing mechanical equipmentEffective written and oral communication skills in the English languageWorking on multiple projects with minimal direct supervisionGood Organizational SkillsBeing part of a dynamic team environmentTo make sound engineering and commercial decisions

 Education:

 Minimum - Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience

 

Experience:

 

Five to ten years experience with design and operation of electrostatic precipitators, flue gas desulfurization systems, and/or fabric filters applied to stationary boilers.

 

Physical Working Conditions:

 

Ability to work in both office and construction site environments. Must be capable of travel to client, consultant, suppliers, other company offices and job sites. Travel could be either domestic or international. Job sites require use of ladders and stairs to perform duties.
