Purpose of the Position:
Support the specification, design, test and maintenance of the company?s electronic products and internal equipment and instruments. Position will also support customer equipment and instrument needs in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
? Assists in making decisions on engineering problems and methods. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories and practices of own field and related sciences and disciplines.
? Apply electronic engineering knowledge to the design and development of new products, test equipment and existing products.
? Install, troubleshoot and repair commercial instruments internally and in the field. Travel required.
? Will be responsible for the specification, design, development, implementation, testing, validation and support of hardware systems and products encompassing embedded microprocessor-based instruments.
? Researching design requirements and equipment specifications; developing design documentation and drawings; conducting equipment trade studies; preparing test plans, procedures, and reports; analyzing power, space, weight, and cooling requirements; and supporting other research and analysis for integrated systems designs.
? Should have excellent facilitation, communication, leadership, teamwork and organization skills
? Develop specifications, design documents, test protocols and other documentation in accordance with FDA and other regulatory.

? Ability to design, specify, analyze and troubleshoot analogue and digital electronics systems.
? Knowledge and experience with software programming, particularly in embedded systems. C, C++, VB and/or .NET familiarity is desirable.
? Must have experience developing electronic devices under FDA design control requirements and be familiar with Quality System Regulations, document control and quality assurance.
? Must have experience in the medical device, IVD, or biotechnology industries, preferably directly involved in commercial product development.
? Good customer service skills to include voice and written communications.
? Knowledge of chemistry or biochemistry would be beneficial.
? Familiarity with industry standards for electronic design and safety such as ASME, IEEE, UL, CSA, CE and others.
? Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Education and Experience:
BSEE plus at least five years experience in a commercial product development environment. Mathematical background in complex algorithms, statistics or curve fitting would be desirable. Experience in some or all of the following areas are desired. Real-time embedded systems, both software and hardware. Multiprocessor based systems and inter-processor communications interfaces. Medical devices, IVD?s, or molecular diagnostics. FDA quality regulations and design controls.
Language Skills: Must be proficient in writing, and communicating in the English language.
Mathematical Skills: Must be consistent with BS, engineering level or higher education
Reasoning Ability: Good problem solving, judgment and decision making skill are required.

Work entails regularly performing tasks while working at a computer, desk, laboratory bench or automated machine. Work may involve occasional climbing or balance.
