Sr. Field Systems Engineer/Project Engineer

Provide system engineering support for implementation and deployment of large, complex CAD/AVL (Computer-Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location) and communications systems. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of project performance, starting with sales/marketing efforts and continuing to post-warranty customer support. The candidate's efforts will be predominantly focused on providing in-field product/systems and customer support.

A background or interest in Systems Engineering is beneficial, along with an aptitude for 'hands-on' engineering skills.

A willingness to travel extensively and on short notice is mandatory. Most travel is within the continental USA, but some overseas/international travel may be required. The candidate will be expected to work independently, with most management being remotely provided from the 'home office.'

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support system engineering activities (requirements analyses, system 20%
design, design review material, test plans and procedures, customer meetings,

EDUCATION AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

' A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Engineering is required.
' Effective oral and written communication skills
' Sound decision making and project solving abilities
' Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
' Ability to perform in a time sensitive/deadline environment
' Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at a give time
' Ability to work and contribute to a team environment
' Valid Driver's License

EXPERIENCE

' Up to 3-4 years of related experience is desired, but not required (new Engineering graduates are acceptable)
' Beneficial experience includes system level design and development of complex electronic control systems, experience in specification generation, requirements analysis, requirements flow-down and traceability, experience developing products in a lifecycle process and hand-on technical skills (i.e., experience troubleshooting electronic, communications or software issues).

COMPUTER EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, and MS Project beneficial.

Knowledge or experience with Windows, Linux/Unix and Cisco or related networking equipment beneficial.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/FUNCTIONS

Systems, software, wireless data communications, and embedded systems experience extremely beneficial. Systems engineering experience in projects involving embedded, windows and rf communications (Motorola private mobile radio, GSM/GPRS or other commercial voice/data solutions) engineering desired.

Must be able to perform tasks with little supervision. Ability to quickly understand a system's function and provide innovative suggestions for improvement. Excellent presentation and communication skills to deliver presentations to customers and the ability to communicate with various external organizations.

Ability to develop system level verification tests and participate in hardware software integration and troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret technical drawing (Mechanical, electrical and circuit schematics).

Provide oversignt for system field deployment and testing, including system test procedure execution, preparation of field test reports, and resolution of system performance issues.

Conduct field work including system optimization, troubleshooting, assisting in system repairs and conducting formal and informal customer training.
