Position located in Plymouth, MI

for Seat Mechanism Engineering and Development. Review and direct the design of seat mechanisms including CAD models, detail drawings,validation testing, and design optimization. Good mechanical design analysis using tools, conduct design reviews and coordination aptitude to meet project schedules.

Supports technical design reviews monthly / as necessary. Provides input to the technical design review report.


Applies best practices in creating layout drawings, detail drawings and assembly drawings. Assures that the customer's environment drawings are kept up to date and that no packaging or interference problems exist in the drawings/data.


Facilitates, develops and implements Best Practices in Design and? Engineering. This includes, but is not limited to PDfSS, drawing standards, FEA, GD&T, root cause analysis, DVP, DFMEA, hand calculations, and use of carry-over and CPP technology.


Executes robust design / design changes to provide the highest quality in the build and assembly of prototype parts with agreed to process. Personally assures that the design and engineering data is released on time to ensure the highest quality assemblies for testing and the customer.


Leads root cause analysis in the resolution of any test failures. Reviews the analysis with the appropriate engineering management resources to resolve any particularly difficult problems. Insures the appropriate management teams are aware of any potential safety concern.


Generates optimized DVP&R with appropriate support groups assuring the minimum number of prototype are being tested and the best choice of reliability techniques are used to determine test duration, number of samples, and types of test.


Generates DFMEAs prior to release of prototype tooling.


Review & direct FEA/Analysis/Testing prior to finalizing concept, release of prototype tooling, and release of production tooling to assure design meets desired criteria/specifications.


Support development of technical solutions to define and meet business objectives (cost, performance, timing, weight, and investment).




Requirements include 8 +- years' related experience, a bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience), design, project management, customer contact, seating and auto experience highly desired, and working knowledge of CATIAv5? highly desirable..?? Good mechanical design analysis using predictive tools, conduct design reviews and coordination aptitude to meet project schedules.
