Based in Onalaska, Wisconsin, L.B. White Company, Inc., is one of the world?s leading manufacturers and marketers of propane and natural gas direct-fired heaters, radiant heaters and torches for a wide range of markets. 

 

The L.B. White Company consists of two distinct heating equipment divisions, L.B. White and PSI.  The L.B. White division manufactures and markets a full line of portable forced air heaters, convection heaters, circulating heaters, radiant brooders and torches for domestic and international agriculture, construction, hospitality and greenhouse markets. Within the PSI division, the Company manufactures and markets a separate and distinct line of direct-fired forced air heaters and radiant products, which are sold into agricultural confinement applications in North America, Europe and the Far East.

 

In addition, the L.B. White Company, through its sister company, Hospitality International LLC, designs and manufactures a broad line of quality seating, portable bars and stainless steel underbar products for the hospitality industry.  Sales from Hospitality International LLC, which includes Carroll Chair Company and La Crosse Cooler Company, represent approximately 19% and 20% of the combined sales for the years ended May 31, 2002 and May 31, 2001, respectively.

Position Description & Responsibilities

 

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing support to the operations? team in order to achieve the business goals and objectives of the organization.  This position works closely with the operations and engineering teams to develop and implement process improvement and cost reduction plans and programs.

 

The successful candidate will lead the projects that will provide the organization with process improvements and cost reductions in all production areas.

 

Specific responsibilities include:Develop and execute process and quality improvement plans. Work closely with the operations group to develop a comprehensive improvement and cost reduction plan to support company growth objectives. Monitor, assess and regularly review the performance of the operations plans put in place. Analyze and interpret operational information to assist in identifying improvement opportunities to meet customer expectations.

 

As a key member of the operations management team, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with other members of the management staff.

Experience, Qualifications and Education

 

The ideal candidate will have:A minimum of 6 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a sheet metal environment - supervisory experience is a must.Proven successes utilizing Lean principles, including 5S, TPM, set-up reduction and value stream mapping.Demonstrated process improvement, project mgmt. and cost reduction skills. Demonstrated competence with business fundamentals such as cost structures, labor efficiencies, burden rates and ethical business practices, etc. Highly proficient written and oral communication skills. A BS degree with a strong academic record is required - minimum 3.0. (degree should be in the areas of Manufacturing Engineering,  ME or IE) Computer system capabilities utilizing Microsoft Office applications, e-mail and internal EMS business management systems. Mechanical aptitude and technical capability to be able to work with all levels of employees in a manufacturing environment along with the ability to investigate and mediate technical issues.
