The Equipment Engineering group provides equipment design and realization services to POHC functional groups, including the POHC factory, R&D, QAI, Clinic, and Process Technology in the development and deployment of measurement, test, production and prototyping equipment. Responsibilities include equipment specification, design, planning, outsource management, implementation and documentation. Equipment engineering support process technicians and sustaining process engineers in maintenance and continuous improvement activities (TPM) and controls the production equipment documentation through end of life decommissioning.
Job Description
Your Responsibilities
Develop new equipment used in the development and production of medical devices. Develop specifications, designs, plans and builds complex manufacturing and test equipment independently or as member of a team.
?Utilize broad range of engineering and mechanical design skills in the design of equipment.
?Review the designs of and mentor other engineers, designers and contract design houses.
?Lead project teams to develop clear specifications, evaluates feasibility of concepts, and provides formal estimates for system designs.
?Creates and reviews mechanical designs and detail drawings utilizing parametric modeling and FEA software.
?Coordinates, monitors and documents project designs, estimates, and costs.
?Complete project deliverables and monitor project schedule and scope changes to assure team can meet delivery requirements.
?Leads and liaises with external design companies to provide engineering solutions for POHC.
?Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate status and results.
?Integral member of project teams that include Designers, Engineers and Technicians in the design, assembly, and debug of equipment.
?Selects materials and process and components for use in automated equipment and test equipment.
?Designs pneumatic systems and specifies pneumatic components.
?Involved in the identification of electrical components and automated control requirements.
?Assist with completing required FDA/QSR equipment documents including specifications, software validations and qualifications.
?Opportunity to learn or implement industrial controls software.
?Statistical analysis of gauge and process capabilities.
?Influences and defines functional, departmental/divisional procedures through involvement with cross-functional engineering initiatives.
?Provides training as required to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
?Provide leadership role on championing functional best practices.
Requirements
Overview
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years experience in the design, realization, and outsourcing of high volume factory production equipment and/or test equipment. They have a strong working knowledge and disciplined execution of machine design and process development fundamentals. The candidate will have experience leading significant ($1M+) equipment projects yet has flexibility to individually contribute as a machine designer when workload warrants.
Education/Experience
?B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (MS a plus).
?10+ years experience with design of automation, process and/or test equipment preferred, 5 yrs minimum.
?Medical Device industry experience a plus.
Desired Competencies
?Strong project management and scheduling capabilities.
?Creative, problem solving approach to work.
?Mechanical Design using 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred).
?Skilled in the use of statistical engineering methods such as RCA, DOE, SPC, MSA, capability studies, etc.
?Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes.
?Systems integration skills.
?Data acquisition and analysis experience.
?Experience with Installation and Operational Qualification of production equipment and process validation.
?Familiarity with software verification and validation.
?Strong communication and writing skills.
