Sr. Optical Coating Process Engineer

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

? Develops innovative optical thin film products as well as thin film coating processes through selecting suitable materials and process parameters.  Responsible for transfers engineering processes into production line.

? Establishes reliable, cost effective engineering and manufacturing requirements for new optical thin film products.

? Provides engineering support to optical coating manufacturing operations, which includes design, modeling and simulation of various thin film coating products. Utilizes automated data acquisition equipment to acquire data for process improvement.  Applies statistical process control methodologies to estimate yield and improve capability. Performs trouble shooting and upgrading of equipment and processes.

? Provides training and carries out supervisory responsibilities to junior engineers, technicians, and operators.

Requirements:

? BS in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with 7+ years of optical coating industrial working experience is essential. Advanced degree is preferred.

? Hands on experience and knowledge of thin film optical coating systems

and techniques.  Ion Beam Sputtering Deposition experience is highly desirable.

? Experience and knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) is required.

? Familiar with Clean Room protocols.

? Ability to maintain vacuum hardware and to design vacuum coating chamber fixtures. Experience in basic electronics and operation of computer-controlled systems.

? Experience in interfacing PC?s to laboratory and production instrumentation is desirable.

? Ability to communicate (verbal and written) to personnel of all skill levels (from operators to Sr. engineers).
