We are currently seeking to add a Sr. Packaging Engineer to our team.

 

Job Responsibilities include:

 Designing, developing, and specifying packaging materials for assigned brand responsibility in meeting Marketing objectives and respective ship dates.Maintains a working relation and awareness of preferred packaging material, tooling, software, and machinery suppliers to identify opportunities to utilize new capabilities and technologies to reduce costs, improve quality and provide timely execution of projects assigned and increase speed to market.Determines testing protocol and requirements to ensure quality performance of packaging materials.  Conducts testing, provides reports and approvals on shipping, stability, environmental, and production line testing to management following department procedures and practices.Engineers new tooling, molds, dies and systems to support C.A.R.?s.  Approves all related specifications, drawings, testing, and start up qualifications of these related items.Identifies and initiates projects for cost savings opportunities.  Establishes time lines for project management and reports on project activity on a timely basis while monitoring responsiveness of suppliers to meet respective dates for production startup.Identifies lead times, and establishes steps needed while assisting project management in creating timelines for project activity.  Reports on each packaging project and the relates component issues on a routine basis to management to ensure respective ship dates are met.Works closely with support groups and project management to supply other departments with related specifications, samples, line trial materials and information to assist them in executing project work on a timely basis while maintaining a quality conscious, cost effective packaging solution.



 

Education and Experience Required:

 

5-7 years of experience working in Packaging Engineering for a consumer products or packaging company. Bachelor of Science required, preferrably in Packaging; Must be familiar with Excel, and project management software, Must have strong equipment and tooling background and creative engineering skills.

 

*** Packaging Engineers operate laboratory equipment including the following:  Compression tester, drop tester, shake tester, optical comparator and various electronic measuring devices.  Packaging Engineers also operate personal computers, typewriters and calculators.  Also will be required to work on the production floor around packaging machinery during line trials and start-up.
