Sr Prin Software Engineer
Minneapolis, MN
The purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership in the specification, development, testing, and documentation of drug infusion therapy systems that include implantable devices, telemetry, external programming instruments, and data management infrastructure.
The responsibilities of this Sr. Principal Systems Engineer include system design/analyses, hardware/software integration and testing, requirements allocation, definition and documentation of system and component interfaces, system architecture analyses, component design review including embedded software architecture, and test environment development for class III medical devices. Tasks will include: project planning, system analyses, system design, requirements analyses and allocation, approving test reports, leading design reviews, providing technical support for clinical validation, reviewing documentation, providing training, and directing of technical work for team members and support groups to achieve project objectives. Also, provide technical direction to meet Medtronic, FDA, and EU requirements for product development, documentation, safety, and reliability / quality of class III medical devices. This is an individual contributor / technical leadership position within a product development team, which will require technical, interpersonal, and leadership competencies.
The requirements include a BS (MS preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Computer Science and 10 years of applicable experience. Candidates must have expert knowledge of real-time, embedded system development, automated test methodologies, and medical or life-critical product development. Required skills include specification writing, engineering analysis; as well as significant experience with the following: real-time and embedded system design, interface protocols, Use-Case analysis, Human Factors Engineering, automated system and software testing, structured analysis, system modeling methodologies such as UML, C/C++, ability to interpret or create electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
