Sr Principal Test Engineer

Job Description: The Test Director will be responsible for Integration and test of all Ships Systems to be installed and tested at the Wallops Island Engineering Test Center (WIETC). The test director will be the principal technical team manager for all equipment installations, equipment operation and maintenance, and testing at WIETC. The test director will evaluate the technical team staffing levels and initiate actions to adjust the staffing level to meet the workload requirements as necessary. Working with other managers from the various equipment hardware/ software design labs, the test director will be an active participant in the spiral development of the DDG 1000 suite of electronic systems. This spiral development will require that the test director investigate and document equipment issues, design/ develop and implement corrective actions, generate technical reports documenting such issues and actions, and participate/ conduct technical reviews with various equipment design labs. The test director reviews and approves all test related documents (Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Reports, Safety Plans, Schedules, and Security Plans etc.) to ensure test objectives are met while all safety and security requirements are adhered to. This position coordinates all activities with relevant parties (Customer, Facility, OEM, Security, Safety, Test Range, Data Collection and Reduction, Analysts, etc.) in planning, executing and reporting results of tests. Additional responsibilities include conducting Test Readiness Reviews, providing Status and Results as required to management. Represent Raytheon at customer program and status reviews. The test director will identify new business opportunities at Wallops Island and work with the program manager to develop these opportunities.




Required Skills / Knowledge:
- Must be able to independently execute test plans and procedures in support of the DDG 1000 spiral development of the ship electronic systems.
- Develop advanced concepts and techniques for testing multi-function radars and performing data analysis.
- Provide a d emonstrated working knowledge of and leadership experience in high visibility Navy combat systems integration and test environment with direct responsibilities for prioritizing tasks, scheduling system test events, developing required staffing content/levels, safety and special access security.
