Sr. Product Design Engineer - (ED13439)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for design/development/release of primary subsystem/component; meet customer targets for cost, timing, quality, and weight objectives.
- Be the packaging broker for the cockpit module between IP, HVAC, Electrical, Ducts and other components.
- Run weekly design review meetings internal to Visteon on cockpit packaging.
- Interact with less experienced engineers on both technical and customer issues.
- Direct day-to-day activities of CAD personnel to complete subsystem/component design and packaging. Coordinate CAE and other analytical tools as necessary.
- Take customer requirements (NDS, NES, NEM) and translate into product requirements from concept to validation (TST plan and signoff).
- Interface with suppliers of mating components/systems and internal customers (manufacturing, tooling suppliers, raw material suppliers, etc.) to ensure packaging, craftsmanship, and performance.
- Primary interface with customers on technical, feasibility, and launch issues for parts with design responsibility.
- Responsible for keeping up to date on latest technologies relative to product line.
- Be the empowered representative in the absence of the Supervisor for all program issues.
- Develop key feature diagrams for the parts with design responsibility.
- Manage full service suppliers under engineer's responsibility, including overview of design and other engineering deliverables.
- Release components parts per Nissan process (excel notes, shape submission for subsequent D-note release from Nissan).
- Develop datum schemes, and release GD&T as necessary to obtain customer's Fit & Finish requirements.
- Support product testing (DV and PV) as necessary for product validation and customer TST signoff.
- Interact as necessary with Visteon Manufacturing facilities (VMAP and VRAP) in support of product launch.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum years of Experience: 5+ years
- Preferred minimum Education - BS degree
- STRONGLY PREFERRED- BSME
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- PD Interior/ Exterior product design engineers don't typically do CAD work
- Manufacturing and tooling experience preferred
- Product launch experience
- Ability to lead in the absence of the supervisor.
