Our Sr. R&D Engineer takes a leading role in designing and developing new products and product improvements for new product design and development, existing product modifications, and/or process design, development and optimization and performance evaluation. Responsibilities include fabrication, testing and documentation of products and processes.  Provides assistance to project teams by developing test protocols, technical methods, and test reports.  Coordinates and plans testing and documentation requirements. Provides engineering and technical support to other functional areas of the Company as required.

 Acquires materials needed to construct prototypes and supervises the design engineering of new models.Plans and develops test programs for prototypes from design requirements, defines processes to properly make and assemble products and optimize processes.Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance requirements.Performs technical analysis of competitive products.Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.

? Provides engineering support for new product design and development, existing product modifications, and/or process design, development and improvement and performance evaluation.

? Determines realistic start and finish dates for action items imperative to project completion on project schedule.  Updates project schedules as required.

? Serves as a project leader with a broad range of duties including determining resource needs, availability or limitations, in advance of issues, to minimize schedule deviations.

? Develops product and process verification and validation, test protocols and reports in compliance with design control requirements. 

? Reviews protocols and reports with management of Quality Control, RD&E, and Regulatory Affairs/Quality Assurance.

? Provides test reports, drawings, and other requirements to RA necessary for preparing regulatory notifications and submissions [510(k)s and PMAs and technical files] for domestic and international approvals as required.

? Provides technical training for appropriate Lab and Production personnel as appropriate. Provides process and systems training to other functional areas as necessary.

? Reviews appropriate technical literature for necessary background on specific assignments.

? Other non-routine duties as assigned by Supervisor.

? Wears personal protective equipment as required.

? Ensures all activities are in compliance with Quality System requirements.

 

Requirements: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering8+  years of related experience.A thorough understanding of the design of mechanical components & assemblies.A good understanding of electromechanical & electronic devices & their applications, an understanding of statistical methods, & ability to plan & implement projects from concept to completion.Knowledge of metal & plastic design requirements & fabrication techniques is required.  Ability to develop test methodologies is required.PC, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, spreadsheet, and word processing literacy is also required.Working knowledge of FDA QSRs and ISO guidelines.Learns, understands and applies the MPSS design control process.Solicits design inputs from KOL?s in conjunction with marketing managers.Converts design inputs into measurable design requirements.

 

Preferences: At least 2-3 years in the medical device industry preferred.MS in Mechanical EngineeringExperience with high complexity, high speed motors
