Sr. Software Engineer - Video Servers & Graphics

Job Description: Design and develop applications for transporting files, monitoring, configuring, and maintaining wintel based video servers in both a stand alone and clustered environment. Implement and scope effort and schedule for scalable applications that are comprehensive and intuitive for the broadcast customer. These applications will improve customer workflow, reliability, and manageability of the video server product. Participate in all phases of an aggressive product development cycle which includes product definition and design, implementation, documentation, unit and system debug and test and early customer support. Work collaboratively with other Avid broadcast engineering teams to maintain a consistent user interface experience over all products. Be willing to take on any engineering tasks that advance the goals of the team and the company. Requirements:

- BSEE/CS degree or equivalent

- 3+ years professional software development of high performance apps for Wintel platform

- Strong programming and debugging skills

- C, Visual C++ and scripting language(s)

- Practical network knowledge and experience

- Practical knowledge of audio and video formats



Strongly Desired:

- MSEE/CS degree or equivalent and 2+ years of experience

- Development experience with Java and/or Trolltech QT

- Detailed knowledge of MPEG-2 program and elementary streams

- Detailed knowledge of MXF formats

- Understanding of digital video standards such as HD and SD SDI

- Windows win2k/XP driver development

- Linux and Mac application development
