Sr Tech Support Engineer I/Sentinel Radar, Iraq

Job Description: This Technical Support Engineer I position carries responsibility for supporting Sentinel operation and maintenance activities in Iraq. Sentinel is the primary air defense radar of the U.S. Army.

The engineer will be stationed at Camp Liberty in Baghdad, Iraq and will support operations in Iraq. The engineer will receive orientations training in CONUS before deploying to Iraq in January 2006. The position is funded until 12/31/2006 and may be extended.


Required Experience, Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
A minimum of five (5) years experience maintaining and operating Sentinel or Firefinder TPQ-36 radars. Must be able to resolve all technical problems related to the radars and be able to advise and assist US government personnel on system operation and maintenance procedures. Must also be able to assist with supply issues and provide interface between the on-site customer and Raytheon (the Original Equipment Manufacturer, or OEM) engineering and program management.


Special Work Environment: This position requires working for extended hours under and working under field conditions

Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of military personnel.


Required Education (including Major):
This position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree, or an equivalent combination of experience, training and education (suitable experience may be accepted in the place of degree). Military or contractor training in the operation and maintenance of Sentinel or Firefinder radar systems is highly desirable.
