Staff/Manager RF Engineer - Base Station (Bedminster, NJ)

Role RF Architect / Lead - RF Manager QFT (QUALCOMM Flarion Technologies) has developed the first commercially available OFDM based cellular wireless system that provides multi-megabit data to fully mobile users over a wide coverage area.
The candidate will participate on and/or lead a design and development team responsible for RF sections of the base station that forms the main part of the FLASH-OFDMA cellular infrastructure. The candidate will architect, specify, design, test, document and introduce to manufacturing equipment that resides between the digital interface and antenna interface. Designs will cover FDD and TDD systems operating in various bands between 400 MHz and 3.6 GHz.

Skills/Experience
. Carrying out development projects from concept through manufacturing
. Leading small RF hardware engineering teams.
. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with systems, DSP, Control software, digital hardware, test and manufacturing groups.

. Develop specification, test and verification plans for supplier and internally designed modules, as well as for overall system

. Working knowledge of base station radio building blocks such as PAs, LNAs, mixers, PLL synthesizers, Gain control amps, filters, couplers, A/D and D/A Converters, etc.
. Expertise in Base Station power amplifiers down to device level, particularly in multi carrier PAs using digital pre distortion and other linearization methods.
. Working knowledge of base station transceiver cards, both architecture and component characteristics
. Excellent knowledge of test equipment and test techniques, particularly for CDMA cellular systems

. Working knowledge of RF CAD tools

Additional Skills
. Hands-on power amplifier design experience.
. Hands-on Low-noise amplifier design experience
. Experience in testing to IS-97, 3GPP2, 3GPP standards
. Base station RF design for TDD systems.
. Power supply design experience.
. Power and control signal distribution design (frame electrical)
. Intro to manufacturing and manufacturing test experience

Education Requirements
. Bachelor's degree and ten plus years experience.
