Staff Software Engineer CSE17 - (CS00902)

Chief Software Engineer: Lead Software Engineering activities to balance strategic objectives of the contract roadmap against the constraints of the tactical missions to ensure software systems are maintained and enhanced in a manner that enables attaining the overall Integrated Network vision. Support Software Division Manager to ensure that contractual requirements are met, priorities are properly evaluated, and project budgets and schedules are managed.

Perform as the single Software Engineering Authority with regards to software evolution, architecture, integration, interoperability and software process direction. Plan and lead activities to evolve software systems from mission unique applications into a multifunction, distributed, interoperable systems capable of meeting present and future Air Force needs. Plan and lead activities to update software process to meet ISO and CMMI objectives.

Provide support to workforce planning and development to ensure an appropriately sized and skilled software engineering workforce are in place. Challenge engineers to take acceptable risks in pursuit of solutions and innovations that support process, program, and company advancements. Ensure that engineers can function, communicate and succeed in an integrated development environment.

Key skills:
Ability to lead and facilitate teams in each of these areas: Software System Architecture, Distributed Systems, Service Oriented Architecture, Database Design, DoD/Air Force Mission Software development or Sustainment, SEI CMMI process architecture.

Technology Advancement:
Lead SW division in an evolutionary advancement of technology to ensure that expertise and the implementation and use of modern technological tools is achieved

Skills, Education, Knowledge and Experience Required which relates specifically to the performance of the job:

BS in Engineering or Math with 9 years of experience or a MS in Engineering or Math with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 2 years of experience. Equivalent experience in a related technical field will be considered.

All of the following are REQUIRED:

9-10 years experience with Software Architecture, and Software Engineering teams and projects.

9-10 years experience with technology studies and implementation.

9-10 years experience measuring, analyzing, and significantly improving quality processes (i.e., TQL, Six Sigma Green Belt, CMMi, ISO).

9-10 years of demonstrable, effective leadership experience.

Must demonstrate ability to apply analytical, interpretive, evaluative, constructive, and creative thinking skills in variable situations and be an innovative problem solver.
Must be a strong team player, leader, and communicator.

Effectively take on the role of team leader, consensus builder, follower, or supporter upon determining which one a situation dictates. Appropriately and effectively give and receive verbal, written, or non-verbal messages (to both superiors and subordinates) that express an idea or clearly convey an intended message.
