Staff Tooling Engineer

Job Description: Purpose: The Staff Tooling Engineer is responsible for developing a solid relationship within FlexMobile's key customer's plastics personnel and corporate decision makers, enabling Flextronics to increase the Mobile Mechanicals business.

Primary Responsibilities· 
Flextronics Mobile Mechanical single point of contact for the customer.
Manage information and message received by the customer. Direct customer's requests and questions to appropriate member of Flextronics team. Follow up to insure questions are answered timely and appropriately.
Create and deliver presentations to customer and Flextronics management as needed.
Interface with customer and or Flextronics design team on new product designs.
Review part designs and perform DFM (Design for Manufacturability) analysis. Provide design feedback that will improve finished part and mold quality.
Develop molding and tooling strategy based on volume, dimensional, and cosmetic requirements.
Develop, update, and own mold specification and capacity analysis that aligns with agreed upon strategy.
Assist and support both the prototype and production mold and piece part quote process.
Review quotes for accuracy and support sales team with customer inquiries relative to the quotation.
Manage prototype process. Review, track and support delivery commitments. Provide weekly status reports.
Support Flextronics tooling operations through the entire mold construction process. Review and track mold build schedules. Provided weekly status reports.
Review mold designs and provide design recommendations to the customer and or Flextronics tooling operations.
Develop, update, and own tooling tracker and provide weekly updates to the customer and Flextronics team.
Manage and track original tooling cost and engineering change costs.
Develop corrective action list and schedule from mold trails. Drive corrective action plans to completion.
Review all FAI and Cpk reports. Develop corrective action plans and drive to completion.
Responsible for the entire mold development process. From release of databases to production release.


Job Requirements:


Requirements:
BS degree or equivalent and/or 6-10 years of plastics injection molding and tooling experience. Strong Tooling Background required.
Ability to quote, design, and build injection molds. Building not mandatory but preferred.
Experience in the cell phone market desirable.· Individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills and able to manage in a matrix environment.
Program Management and or Sales experience desirable. Must have a proven track record of successful customer interface.  Must have the ability to manage multiple programs concurrently.
Thorough understanding of injection molding process.
Thorough understanding of secondary and finishing processes for injection molded parts.
Must be able to operate Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project software.
CAD software experience required both 2-D and 3-D. Pro Engineer experience is required. Must be able to communicate part and mold design changes to customer utilizing CAD tools.
Up to 50% travel, domestic or international.
