Growing Alaskan 16 person multi-disciplined engineering firm seeks a structural designer with 5-10 years of experience.

 

Enjoy the beauty of Alaska while enhancing your professional growth as an important part of growing Anchorage based engineering firm.  This dynamic firm performs a wide variety of structural, architectural, and civil projects throughout the State.  Current contracts range from large municipal land development to North Slope oil and gas production facilities.

 

The selected candidate will support structural design on projects and will assist in the development construction plans, details and estimates. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as be capable of working well with other team members, subcontractors and clients. Candidate must be able and willing to work 12 hours a day, on a 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off work schedule. As necessary, travel will be a mandatory condition of the position. The duration of the 2 on 2 off is currently estimated on 6 months. The home base for this position is in Anchorage.

 

Minimum Requirements:5 to 10 years of experience in structural design of industrial projects using steel, ideally petrochemical projects. Able to work independently with minimum supervision, Able to take field measurements and translate them into working drawings, Ability to work in a both professional office environment and/or field environment, Good communication and writing skills, and the ability to use Word and Excel software. Able to work a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off or a 3 weeks on 1 week off schedule at a remote location.  Excellent AutoCAD skills. Good organizational skills. Ideally have some experience with oil drilling rigs. Be able to assemble a bill of materials, material take off experience a plus. Be able to handle remote work. Be drug free.
