Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY:
o Identify technology driven opportunities/trends, to create new products and processes based on Surface Preparation as the core technology
o of interest to HPM Businesses
o of interest to the future of HPM, beyond the current commercial needs
o Responsible for developing and maintaining close interactions with consortia, universities, and key customers to seed and promote technology driven activities with long range impact, leading to new innovation opportunities for HPM.
o Evaluate/Assess the state of the art of SPT technologies through patents, bench marking, literature/conference sources and contacts and establish a long range road map for HPM SPT and its impact for HPM innovation needs.
o Develop technology acquisition pipeline.
o Develop and maintain strong relationships within the Worcester/Northboro R&D Center team, and other locations/geographies with key marketing and commercial contacts.
o Documentation of development and evaluation results in technical reports, technical literature and presentations (incuding customer presentations) as required.
o Embed sound IP management practices. Maximize opportunity for patent coverage.
o Serve as back up to the Director, SPT, HPM Sector in order to execute strategic technology road map.



COMPETENCIES:
o Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, with Seven plus years of experience with emphasis on surface preparation technologies.
o Extensive knowledge of industries and components influenced by Surface Preparation Technologies.
o Managment Education such as MBA, with concentration on technology driven innovation and market development, would be highly preferable.
o 5-10 years of working experience, in application or product development with a proven record of technology driven innovation as evidenced through new products and their commercialization, market development, project/program development and cross functional results.
o Innovator, wants to ?solve problems? and find commercial value for such solutions. Proven record of commercial and industrial success to make a difference through innovation
o Excellent communication skills necessary to work across a broad community of technologists, researchers, entrepreneurs and organizations.
