General Characteristics

The Survey Instrument-Man typically works with the Survey Party Chief in a two-person crew to collect survey data on sites throughout the coastal Georgia area.

 

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

The position?s responsibilities include setting-up and running the instruments required to collect accurate boundary, topographic, and construction survey data.  The Instrument-Man must be competent in using total stations, data collectors, leveling instruments, and GPS locating equipment.  Additional duties include providing assistance to the Party Chief in performing various tasks, such as locating monuments, cutting line, etc. required to collect accurate survey data.

 

Direction Received

The Survey Instrument-Man receives instructions on assignments directly from the Survey Party Chief.  Experienced applicants should be knowledgeable in the proper procedures for collecting survey information using state-of-the art technology.  Less experienced candidates will receive close supervision and ample guidance on the application of proper data collection procedures. 

 

Responsibility for Direction of Others
None.

 

Education/Experience/License Requirements

This position requires a high school diploma, or a GED.  Candidates with 2 or more years of surveying experience are preferred.  However, no prior experience is required for an applicant with the ability to learn and a strong work ethic.
