Surveyor/ ACAD Specialist

Job Description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general supervision, manage and administer digging permit policy and associated documentation, and data collection systems.

1. Manage approval, control, and documentation for digging permit policy at NM Operations.
2. Performs detailed field surveys to develop a data management system for all installations including surface and buried utilities. (As-Built drawings)
3. Researches previous survey evidence, maps, physical evidence and other records.
4. Develop, update and manage information in a GIS database.
5. Coordinate activities and survey information with other departments. (Mine Planning, Geology, SAX/DEW, Concentrator, Smelter, Maintenance, etc.)
6. Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* High School Diploma or GE supplemented by advanced training or education in surveying, ACAD, mapping or a related field.
* One years surveying experience relevant to assignment or adequate ACED experience and capacity to quickly develop surveying skills.
* Knowledge of the principles and methods used in land surveys, including GIS/GPS mapping techniques and ACAD 2000.
* Knowledge of and skilled in the use of a variety of specialized equipment, tools and apparatus used in performing surveys, (e.g. total stations, lasers, GIS/GPS units).
* Knowledge of surveying mathematics, field procedures, and operations.
* Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
* Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
* Self-motivated, ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
