System Applications Engineer

Provide knowledge transfer related to building operations, with an emphasis on HVAC systems, to key groups within Trane. Key responsibilities include representing market, industry, customer, and contracting business needs in a wide variety of processes including the product development process and commercialization. Key responsibilities include critical project support, writing support documentation, developing best practices, conducting training, and participation in customer visits. Provide mentoring and guidance to applications engineers and other select technical personnel within Global Controls Systems.

* Represent the needs of end customers and the contracting business in all activities.
* Participate in market, competitive and industry research.
* Mentor System Applications Engineer candidates.
* Provide program/business level oversight to product development projects.
* Review and approve product requirements and system level test plans.
* Direct support of critical customer projects, including job site work.
* Represent Trane in industry associations.
* Act as a resource to internal and external customers on HVAC systems/equipment control, non-HVAC building systems, competitive systems, Trane solutions offerings and best practices.
* Provide commercialization support, specializing in field office operations.
* Conduct product qualification testing and participate in field trials. Test end-to-end systems.
* Author and/or review Engineering Bulletins, Application guides, Best Practices, Project Specifications, etc.
* Instruct training classes.
* Participate in field events (seminars, shows, etc).
* Participate in customer visits.
* Some travel required.
* Ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines.
* Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers.
* Ability to work regularly and dependably.
* Ability to function in a team environment.
* Demonstrate ability to cope with stress and maintain a pleasant and cooperative temperament with internal and external customers.

Skills
Demonstrated high level of understanding of HVAC, Controls, Buildings, and Industry (standards and competition).
* Demonstrated ability to work with (especially to teach) customers, co-workers, sales office personnel, et al.
* Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to changes in technology, customer needs and business issues.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and present technical information (oral and written) to technical and non-technical users.
* Demonstrated ability to be professional and assertive in team environments.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people at all levels in the organization.
* Demonstrated ability to represent themselves and Trane in a professional manner.
* Computer systems and applications knowledge (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).


* BS degree required; BSME, BSEE or BSCE preferred.
* Minimum of 7 year?s significant experience in building systems operation, design and/or support required.
