System Design Engineer, Senior Level

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new initiative to establish and grow systems engineering in a fast paced, commercial, technology industry. If you are a senior level Systems Engineer and have a solid understanding of systems engineering with demonstrated experience, we are interested in discussing this opportunity with you.


As a Systems Design Engineer at APC you will be challenged to design new and complex systems to solve the availability, density, cooling and management problems with tomorrows global data center and networking environments as well as shape the Systems Engineering process at APC. You will be leading systems engineering efforts for high profile projects that interact across APC. Continuous improvement is critical, and working toward defining and improving on our systems engineering capabilities is necessary.


Some additional tasks and responsibilities will include: creating and maintaining a systems engineering management plans, requirements analysis, functional analysis and breakdown, risk and cost analysis, system architecture and modeling, design and technical reviews, trade-off analysis, project scheduling and organization, configuration and data management, system verification. Other duties as required.


Masters of Science in Systems, Electrical or Computer engineering with 10-15 years of experience, 5 of those years as a Systems Engineer. Candidates with multi-disciplinary degrees with the same levels of experience are also encouraged to apply. Candidate must be fluent in a formal Systems Engineering process and be able to demonstrate how the process is adapted to different project complexities over the life cycle of a system.


Skills necessary for success are: leadership abilities; detail oriented and methodical creating thorough requirements and specifications; a strong desire for organization and efficiency; ability to use and know when to use heuristics (rules of thumb) for quick sanity checks and detailed modeling and analysis; excellent communication and listening skills; ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. Domestic and international travel as needed.


Salary and grade will be commensurate with skills and experience. Positioin is located in Billerica, MA.
