System Engineer - (L-3 PHOT14080)

L-3 PHOTONICS is part of Communication Systems-West, a division of L-3 Communications. The company is located in beautiful Carlsbad, CA, a coastal city within the greater San Diego area. L-3 PHOTONICS develops and manufactures advanced photonic systems and components for the US Government and is a provider of high-speed photonic networks for the aircraft industry and military avionic platforms.

We currently have an opening for a Senior Systems Engineer. The candidate should possess hands on experience performing research and development work in optics or fiber optics or designing and building fiber optic or optical components and systems. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to join an industry leader and work closely with top research, design, and development scientists and engineers. Responsibilities: ? Participate in the design and construction of fiber optic components and systems ? Collect and analyze data from test setups and implement design changes based on gathered data ? Perform research and development of state-of-the-art projects

Requirements: ? BS Physics or BSEE or other relevant discipline, MS preferred ? 10+ years of experience in optics, preferably fiber optics, performing laboratory experiments or designing and constructing optical components or systems ? Ability to conduct research and development projects in fiber optics
