System Requirements Engineer

Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be the lead requirements engineer on new product development (PACE) instrument projects, accountable for all System Requirements activities during development of new Diagnostic platforms. This includes the full scope of instrument products: internally developed, co-developed, and OEM.

Responsible for collaborating on the creation of the PDR with a cross functional team, and cascading PDR requirements down to specific technical requirements that drive the design of the system. This includes requirements gathering, decomposition of higher lever requirements into lower level requirements and specifications, traceability from requirements to verification and validation testing results, revision control, and metrics of requirements quality. Resolves conflicts and issues that prevent clarity and distinction of technical requirements.

Serve as an expert resource and provide training in requirements management, including the use of DOORS as a requirements management tool.

Maintain close collaborations with other key functions in the Instrument Systems Group and outside the group (e.g. Marketing, Manufacturing, QA/RA, S&S), and in the product development cycle (QA, R&D engineers, scientists, manufacturing, suppliers, marketing and operations).


Skills:
Must have demonstrated capability in the definition and development of requirements, specifications and architectures for complex software-controlled systems and electromechanical assemblies.

Experience with automated requirements management tools (DOORS, Requisite Pro, RTM) is highly desirable.

Skilled in leading diverse discussions which result in optimal specification setting, and downstream design choices. Able to define specific engineering implementations that are clear, reliable, and easy to use, manufacture, and service.

Must have strong analytical capabilities, excellent problem solving skills, and be able to determine root cause of top level system problems and propose appropriate solutions with consideration of all trade-offs.

Excellent analytical and writing / communication skills

HealthCare experience, particularly in the Medical Device industry, is desirable, but candidates from industries with transferable skills will be considered.

Candidates with Six-Sigma experience will be considered more favorably.

Education & Typical Experience:
Typical education would be a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or Software) with 6 - 10 yrs. experience.
