Systems Engineering Lead (Balance of Plant)

Job Purpose:

Provide technical support as system expert for assigned systems in accordance with regulatory requirements,? procedures and guidelines.? Also, be able to function as a Lead for a group of System Engineers. The group will range in size from four to seven Engineers. Support plant operation, maintenance and testing in a safe, environmentally sound, cost effective, and disciplined manner that protects the health and safety of the workers, the public, and the environment.

Duties:

* Will represent the Engineering Manager and System Engineering Manager in technical and administrative directions to the Systems Engineers that are assigned to him.



* Will represent the assigned Systems Engineers and their systems in various plant support meetings and special operations.



* Will evaluate assigned System Engineers and provide guidance to bring each engineer up to department required standards. Will provide input into the replacement and filling of vacant System Engineering positions.



* Monitors installation of process equipment and systems to assure technical feasibility and adequacy.



* Analyzes problems and initiating improvements, changes, and value engineering proposals as appropriate.



* Develops/Reviews standing operating procedures and test procedures to support? facility operation, maintenance and testing.



* Develops and writes ECPs and performs engineering to support ECPs.

*?? Develops thorough familiarity with plant equipment and systems.

*?? Performs technical evaluations of estimates.

*?? Provides leadership to assigned personnel in support of system testing and repairs.

*?? Directs or serves as a team member for system tests, post maintenance testing and process checkouts.

*?? Maintains engineering documentation current.

?

*?? Assists with the preparation and execution of facility plans and procedures as required.

*?? Develops test plans and reports as required for the technical support of assigned systems.

*?? Assists with the development and/or review of all standard operating procedures and maintenance procedures associated with the operation and maintenance of assigned systems as required.

*?? Completes training requirements for their job positions as required to complete assigned tasks.

*?? Provides technical input and guidance with respect to applicable corrective and preventive maintenance.

Skills/Qualifications:

Eleven? years work experience with a four year engineering degree or fifteen years work experience with an associates degree in a technical or engineering field.

Practical application of chemical and engineering theories and concepts associated with construction, commissioning, system testing, and operation of facilities handling hazardous, radioactive, or toxic materials.

?Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or physical science or equivalent experience.

Specific training on the theory and operation of chemical demilitarization systems preferred.

Startup/Operational experience in a nuclear facility, chemical processing plant, petrochemical plant or demilitarization facility preferred. The level of the position will determine the number of years of prior experience.

Licensed Professional Engineer a plus.?

Evaluate and recommend improvements to plant performance.? This will require a thorough understanding of the process theory and system operation, as well as the applicability of newly developed technology to operations and maintenance practices.
