Systems Software Administrator Engineer

SYSTEMS SOFTWARE ADMINISTRATOR ENGINEER

 

This position will serve as a platform development resource that will facilitate the development and deployment of multiple software releases for the Scientific Atlanta system software group. The responsibilities of this position include the design, development, test and deployment of turnkey solutions that integrate operating system, database, and application layers. The candidate needs to possess excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Strong people skills and communication skills are needed for interaction with development and test teams, other SA departments, and with outside vendors. Must be a proven team player and self motivated to resolve issues within the organization.

Skills Required:At least 5 years of systems administration experience working with Unix and/or LinuxAt least 5 years experience writing and debugging shell scriptsAt least 5 years experience troubleshooting server hardware problemsAt least 1 years experience with complex networking and client server computing environment conceptsAt least 5 years experience with server performance tuning and capacity planning TCP/IP networking knowledge and experienceAt least 1 years experience documenting and communicating complex processes and proceduresBS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience

 

Preferred Experience:5+ years of system administration experience preferably in a SUN Solaris environmentAbility to write and debug complex shell scripts in ksh, bash and PerlKnowledge of RDBMS installation and configurationExperience designing and supporting disk storage subsystems in multiple RAID configurationsHands on experience automating server installations using jumpstart and/or kickstartExperience using configuration management tools such as CM Synergy or Clearcase
