TECHNICAL BUSINESS ANALYST

Required Qualifications:

3 to 5 years experience gathering and analyzing business requirements for complex technical/scientific software projects

 

Experience working in a cross-functional, team-based environment; 2 to 3 years experience working on projects which

requires directly interfacing with customers.

 

Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science; or 5+ years hands-on experience

in technical or business analysis as a Technical Analyst, Business Analyst, Technical Project Manager, Program

Manager, Developer or Programmer Analyst

 

Technical and Functional Skills Required:

Must be customer focused with the ability to interface directly with Product Marketing and customers and effectively

communicate business requirements and technical information to the development team

 

Experience with functional and technical requirements analysis (use case modeling and analysis, business process

modeling) required

 

Solid understanding of technical/scientific software fundamentals is required. Understanding of CAD/CAE applications,

applications architecture and/or Optical sciences is strongly desired

 

Experience in document management and workflow strongly desired

 

Experience with development methodologies/framework (Agile, RUP, UML, Cost-Effect Analysis, Pragmatic Marketing

requirements and features prioritization) strongly desired

 

Knowledge of standard Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC) and Agile Methodologies and concepts, software

development best practices strongly preferred

 

Understanding of dynamic interactions between requirements gathering activities and project planning. Strong analytical

and quantitative analysis skills with passion for problem solving and research. Able to conceptualize and think creatively

 

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to balance technical and business issues as well as

communicate effectively with both technical and business users

 

Highly detail-oriented, meticulous, organized and self-directed. Self-starter, able to manage multiple projects and meet

deadlines. Proven ability to build consensus on issues, good negotiation and conflict resolution skills

 

Prior experience as a technical/scientific software developer or programmer desired

 

Key Responsibilities:

Interface with marketing representatives regularly and sales representatives and customers occasionally to capture and

develop requirements that lead to technical specifications for projects (15%)

 

Work closely with other our client?s representatives (Software Development, Software Testing, Documentation, Sales, and Project Management) on all commercial development projects. Owns project requirements; responsible for transforming business needs into use cases, user stories, process flows, project requirement documentation, and technical specifications which will then be used by technical teams for developing architecture designs, application code, regression and interactive test cases, and end-user documentation (70%)

 

Develop effective approaches for capturing, prioritizing and managing business requirements. Proactively identify both

product and process improvement opportunities. (5%)

 

Regularly acquire and enhance skills and knowledge related to new technologies in optical computer aided engineering

systems and technical software development (5%)

 

Assist in development of other technical-oriented documents, including: SOW, test plans, installation guides, user

manuals, responses to RFP and RFQ, etc. - as needed for specific projects (5%)

 

Implements and adheres to our client?s development methodologies
