TRAFFIC ENGINEER

Responsible for the daily monitoring and forecasting of capacity issues related to trunks, T1?s, voice channels, DS3?s, and cell sites components.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.    Optimize trunks, switches, cell sites, leased lines.

2.  Produce performance metrics to forecast and plan capacity needs for all network elements.  

3. Use performance software applications to graph trends and plan for growth on the Lucent and Nortel CDMA and TDMA networks.

4. Be proactive at monitoring call volumes and key performance indicators provided by the network elements.

5.  Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience required. Previous experience with monitoring and forecasting capacity of CDMA network preferred.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing computer screen. Some evenings and weekends required.
