Position Overview

Technician will be responsible for data collection and performance evaluation of their assigned areas. They will Interface with RF & Traffic Engineering on performance problem and resolution. Person will be responsible for training level 1 Technicians on all process and procedures from RF and Operations. Level 2 candidate must have a solid understanding of call processing from the mobile to through the PSTN network to the switch. Person must be able to explain what Hardware in the BTS handles which portion of call processing. Must be able to explain what switch equipment play in the call-processing role. Must have a clear and concise understanding of drive test equipment set up and functions.

Technician will build and integrate capacity/new coverage sites in conjunction with construction and switch teams. During market build out this will be the primary responsibility along with construction documentation. Position will provide project management to site construction and telco coordination.

Primary job function is to maintain and service wireless network. This job function is performed by completing the following tasks:
oProvide leadership to Level 1 Field Technicians with structured on the job training.
oProvide hands on Network Architecture Switch and BTS-RBS trouble resolution as related to network system & non-system outages.
oResponsible for the operations & maintenance of "Big 3" vendors (Ericsson, Lucent or Nortel) BTS-RBS infrastructure. Maintenance will involve monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual tasks to be completed, including testing alarms (internal & external), use of various types of test equipment (voltage meter, power meter, spectrum analyzer, microwave test set, T1 tester & antenna sweep equipment) to document individual battery and system voltages, current draw, set output power, sweep antennas, pilot level calibration.
oOn Call 24 x 7 which will include call outs to site locations to resolve trouble tickets that are opened from the NOC and or Customer Care Center.
oFamiliar with Microwave design & Operations as well as RF Propagation processes.
oCollects and processes network performance data. Example: performs drive testing and collects data for specific cell sites using the appropriate tools; analyzes data; and makes suggestions for improvements.
oMonitors network alarms. Receives the alarm, diagnoses the problem and troubleshoots it.
oBasic knowledge of MSC operation and troubleshooting.
oPerform other duties as required.

Minimum of two years of digital wireless experience; Nortel experience preferred.
