Position Overview

Provide hands on Network Architecture Switch trouble resolution as related to network system & non-system outages. Responsible for the operations & maintenance of "Big 3" vendors (Ericsson, Lucent or Nortel) Switching equipment. Maintenance will involve monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual tasks to be completed, including testing alarms (internal & external), and use of various types of test equipment (voltage meter, T1/T3 tester & protocol analyzer) to perform tasks as directed.Ability to trouble shoot network problems with minimal to no exposure of physically being in front of the equipment and still recommend isolation and resolution. o Back up to level supervisor if needed with emphasis on scheduling and project management. On Call 24 x 7 which will include call outs to the MSC to resolve trouble tickets that are opened from the NOC and or Customer Care Center. Ability to resolve Telco and SS7 issues through extensive testing and escalation. Will use various test equipment to determine fault isolation and next steps for resolution. Ability to change switch parameters on the fly in accordance with RF recommendations. Collects and processes network performance data. Example: performs drive testing and collects data for specific cell sites using the appropriate tools; analyzes data; and makes suggestions for improvements. Monitors network alarms. Receives the alarm, diagnoses the problem and troubleshoots it. Has a basic knowledge of base station operation and maintenance. Perform other duties as required.
