Technical Sales Specialist
The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) reports to the Technical Sales Manager and remotely supports the General Business Account sales teams with respect to data products. The TSS typically supports a large number of account executives on an inbound basis. Account Executives pre-qualify customers interested in wireless data applications, the TSS provides webinars and conference calls to educate the customer, as well as providing remote support during application installation and troubleshooting. As part of the sales team, the TSS provides technical sales support and consulting to assure customer integration and implementation of established T-Mobile products and services.
Typical pre-sales activities include gaining an understanding of the customer's business and analysis of the customer's mobile communication requirements. The TSS provides technical support in sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation, ongoing support of company products to ensure performance meets customer requirements, as well as providing answers to customer's technical inquiries. The TSS is responsible for architecting wireless solutions that meet customers needs and are deliverable over the T-Mobile network.
The TSS is the wireless data subject matter expert on current and future wireless technologies. The TSS works closely with marketing and engineering in support of network development efforts, alpha and beta evaluation tests, as well as new product rollouts. The TSS often leads cross functional efforts of sales, engineering, operations and care to address customer issues and support customer needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years in telecommunications, IT administration or network engineering roles;
- Proven network and application troubleshooting skills;
- Understanding of and experience with routers and switches;
- Understanding of and experience with remote access computing methods;
- Understanding of and experience with layered communication protocols;
- Understanding of and experience with system administration roles;
- Understanding of enterprise security architectures and principles;
- Hands-on experience with IP and ATM networks;
- Understanding of 802.11b (WiFi) networks and design;
- Ability to make technical presentations remotely;
- Ability to clearly present technical concepts in a non-technical way;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong goal attainment, organizational, time management, prioritization and people skills are essential. Ability and willingness to multi-task, manage, and work hard in a fast pace, team environment. This position does not require travel but does require extensive time on the phone supporting GB Account Executives and Customer IT staffs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- BSEE or BSCSE preferred.
- Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
- Professional certifications and/or practical knowledge in at least one of the following areas required:
o Security Administrator: experience in firewall design and administration, knowledge of Checkpoint, PIX, Nokia, PKI, RSA, DES, Encryption, security management, etc.
o UNIX Systems Administration: experience in Solaris, Linux, PERL, Shell scripting, RADIUS, DNS, DHCP, etc.
o Application Developer: experience writing and developing wireless data applications, ability to write programs using PERL, JAVA and/or C++;
o Windows Systems Administrator: experience in Exchange, Windows2000 Server, NT4.0, IIS, ISA, MIS, DHCP, DNS, etc.
o Corporate LAN Administrator: experience in routing and switching, LAN administration of 1k+ nodes, certifications in MCP, MCP+1, MCSE, CNE, etc.
o WAN Network Engineering: experience routing and switching, designing, building and optimizing layer 2 and 3 networks, desired certifications include CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP or related vendor-specific training.
o Successful completion of wireless professional training in AMPS, TDMA, GSM, GPRS, 1XRTT or CDMA.
