Technology Project Manager for Software Quality — West Technology Services

Technology Services is an exciting and dynamic organization that provides quality and project services for West Technology.  The Technology Services Software Quality (TSSQ) department is responsible for maximizing application quality and stability through the implementation of change control processes, tools, and environments and the execution of software testing services. This project manager position is responsible for overall management of TSSQ?s use of outsourced or contract resources.  This position will be a primary interface for vendors, project managers, and TSSQ resources for planning, execution and communication of tasks and initiatives related to TSSQ?s engagement of outsourced or contract resources.  In addition, this position may provide leadership to one or more project teams for internal or cross-organizational quality efforts.  The details of this position will fluctuate based on the changing needs of the business but the general responsibilities and key qualifications are summarized below.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Responsible for the resource and project management of TSSQ?s utilization of outsourced or contract resources.

? Act as the primary interface for managing issues related to the use of outsourced or contract resources.

? Partners with testing and SCM leads and managers to lead efforts in resource allocation within and outside the group and department.  May also provide leadership on other quality projects that impact groups within and outside of the department.

? Defines the project work in discrete and clearly definable tasks.  Maintains a project plan and monitors performance against the plan.  Identifies and mitigates risk. Identifies and helps drive the resolution of issues that impact project completion.

? Understand overall priorities & milestones of projects; provide guidance as needed; make recommendations so resources are allocated in alignment with plans.

? Assists management with staffing activities including resource estimating and planning.

? Makes prioritization decisions within projects as needed.  Works with customer to prioritize changes.  Supervises, tracks and reports project progress.

? Leads/manages efforts across teams and groups to ensure project integration and cohesion.

? Recommends & takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems as well as the improvement of processes and deliverables across the group and department.

? Drafts feasibility studies, risk assessments and statements of work.

? Ensures all typical project documentation is completed per defined guidelines and standards.

? Keeps key stakeholders informed with respect to project status, issues, and risks.

? Interfaces, influences, and negotiates with key stakeholders within and outside the department. 

? Work with key stakeholders to ensure project measures of success are established and agreed upon as needed.  Monitor that agreed upon project measures of success are met.

 
Qualifications



 



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

?  A four-year degree in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Engineering, or other related field, or equivalent experience

?  At least 5 years of experience in software testing, software configuration management, software development, and/or project management

?  Demonstrated project planning and management skills.  Working knowledge of project management software.

?  Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

?  Experience in leading teams.  Ability to leverage and work effectively with diverse styles, skills and abilities and across cultures.

?  Working knowledge of applicable technologies and business environment.

?  Working knowledge of software testing and software configuration management strategies, methods, and practices.

?  Deadline and detail oriented with demonstrated ability to deliver on commitments.

?  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to changing requirements.

?  Strong persuasion, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

?  Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.

?  Strong facilitation skills.

?  Prior experience in vendor relationship management preferred.
