Test Strategist / QA Engineer

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Sun Grid Test Strategist and Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for developing the strategy, and coordinating and executing quality assurance functions for this new area within Sun. These functions include product lifecycle reliability analysis, software and infrastructure testing, configuration management for system components and project artifacts, quality control for all aspects of the project, and documentation for all phases of the project. This includes conducting reviews and reporting, development of acceptance criteria and validation of success metrics.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Project Management

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Qualified candidate will possess a strong background in software quality assurance processes. Must have demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to influence and manage change across engineering and operations functions of the organization. Must have worked extensively with JAVA, Solaris, and Linux, and have hands-on experience with software test development and configuration management. Must be skilled in content management, revision controls, technical inventory control systems, and build management processes. Testing experience in unit test, integration, availability, system, security testing, use case base testing, and designing QA environment is expected. Must be flexible and able to skillfully move within all facets of QA, test, configuration, and documentation. Excellent communication, teamwork and documentation skills are required. Must have familiarity with iterative software development.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
Hardware and network architecture background with experience in testing in hardware and software. Experience with ITIL standards. Main stream testing and maintenance tools. Overall familiarity with data center operations. Scripting in perl, Ruby, BASH, and Expect is preferred.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 10

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: BS Computer Science or equivalent
