Job Description:
As onsite HNTB employee, will provide traffic engineering support to Florida's Turnpike District Traffic Operations office located in Ocoee, Florida. Job duties will include:

Plans Reviews: Review and comment on roadway, signing & pavement marking, and maintenance of traffic plans in accordance with Federal and State standards such as MUTCD, Traffic Engineering Manual, and Roadway and Traffic Design Standards.

Traffic Operational Analyses: Perform basic and advanced traffic engineering functions such as highway capacity analyses, ramp and weave analyses, and freeway segment analyses per Highway Capacity Manual. Use traffic engineering software such as FreeSim and Highway Capacity Software to evaluate ramp terminal signals and to simulate freeway segment models.

Traffic Studies and Analyses: Perform traffic studies such as speed studies, signal warrant analyses, gap studies, and lane closure analyses. Provide detailed project reports including recommendations and the manner in which to accomplish them.

Traffic Safety: Analyze fatal crashes, and other crash data, to determine locations that need traffic improvements for promoting motorist safety. Review fatal crash locations in the field and prepare disposition reports with recommendations to improve roadway safety.

Traffic Data Collection and Analyses: Collect data such as traffic volumes and speeds, and perform lane closure analyses. Evaluate data from the stand-point of other elements such as roadway design, regional demographics, crash history et cetera to arrive at conclusions such as the reasonableness of existing speed limits.

Customer Service: Address customer complaints regarding traffic congestion, signage and other traffic related issues. Analyze all concerns from an engineering stand-point and address them in accordance with all rules and regulations as prescribed by federal and state standards. Propose recommendations to resolve those concerns.

Maintenance of Traffic: Review MOT plans and propose the need for changes from the stand-point of motorist safety, and adherence to Federal and State traffic engineering standards.

Traffic Incident Management: Provide TIM support to enhance the transfer of information to motorists, improve the efficiency of operations on Florida's Turnpike, and facilitate the management of incidents on the Turnpike.




Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent with zero (0) to two (2) years experience in the field of Traffic Engineering is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience in Traffic Engineering is required in lieu of the degree requirements.
