Transducer Design Engineer

CITY: Billerica STATE: Massachusetts COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
This position will involve research and development of ultrasonic sensor for industrial use. As part of a multidiscipline product development team, the candidate will focus on transducer development and incorporating it into innovative ultrasonic measurement system to meet industrial requirement including harsh environment. Activities will range from initial transducer design and prototyping through assistance in the transfer of a completed product to manufacturing.
* Design, prototype ultrasonic transducers and help flow meter system design based on knowledge of ultrasonic signal behavior.
* Assist in product reliability testing, risk management, and failure analysis.
* Design and document transducer specification, testing procedure, and required fixtures.
* Manage engineering transducer lab and maintain the lab equipments.
* Work with manufacturing team on transition of new designs to volume production.

Qualifications/Requirements:
* BS or higher in Mechanical /Electrical Engineering or Physics.
* Minimum 3 years hands on experience in transducer design and evaluation of performance.
* Solid understanding of ultrasonic signal theory with practical experience in theory implementation.
* Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
* Basic knowledge/understanding of common fabrication methods including Welding, Machining.
* Working knowledge with MS Office SW, Word, Excel and Power Point.
* Familiar with LabVIEW, or other programming languages.
* Proficiency using Solidworks, AutoCAD, or other mechanical software.
* Knowledge of laboratory safety.

Desired:
* Background in both mechanical and electrical fields.
* Depth of knowledge in physical properties of ceramic, polymer materials are plus.
* Experience of composite piezo experience is plus.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Ability to operate lab mechanical equipments and electrical instruments.
* Demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills.
* Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
* Design for Six Sigma trained.
