Transportation Specialist

General Description:  The Wood-Washington-Wirt Interstate Planning Commission is a Metropolitan Planning Organization serving Wood County, West Virginia and Washington County, Ohio.  It is an agency funded by the Federal Transit Administrations through the West Virginia and Ohio Departments of Transportation.  The Transportation Specialist position is within the Community Development Department of the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council working exclusively for the Wood-Washington-Wirt Interstate Planning Commission.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:Preparation of planning/engineering studies, including but not limited to traffic operation and safety studies, site impact analysis, intersection studies and corridor reviews.Data collection activities, including but not limited to travel time and delay information, accident data, traffic counts, turning movement counts and conformance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devises.Assist with the development and maintenance of the long range transportation plan including updating and maintaining the transportation network model.Perform air quality conformity analysis on the long range transportation plan and Transportation Improvement Program utilizing the most recent air quality analysis model.Work with state and local entities in identifying transportation deficiencies and improvement recommendations.Other duties and activities as needed and required to support the transportation planning department.

 

Reporting:Reports directly to the Transportation Study Director of the Wood-Washington-

  Wirt Interstate Planning Commission.

 

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, preference given to applicants with knowledge of transportation modeling and Air quality modeling.Strong analytical skillsAbility to communicate effectively (orally and written).Knowledge of transportation planning/engineering principals and practices.Knowledge of computer programs Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

Recommended Starting Salary Range:

 

$40,000 to $50,000 per year with benefit package available from MOVRC.
