Unix System Administrator - CAD

In this highly visible role, the candidate will oversee the IT Infrastructure and day-to-day operations of the IT activities for Micron Imaging’s design center.  The candidate will be responsible for the identification of the Micron’s IT requirements and the implementation of appropriate computer infrastructure systems and services that satisfy these requirements. This encompasses maintaining and enhancing infrastructure components such as the company site servers, compute farms, operating systems (UNIX, Linux and some Windows), and applications. 
The candidate will provide support for all end-users of the R&D environment, work with CAD and IS support groups to recommend and provide new methods and ideas for improving development environment. 




Qualified candidates will have 3-5 years of experience as a Unix Systems manager. A working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Solaris operating systems and experience with applying patches and doing builds. Must be able to recognize, understand and analyze system problems and resolve them. Experience with installing FLexlm licenses and diagnosing license problems desired. Experience with Platform LSF load sharing software and Platform License Scheduler is desired.
Familiarity with scripting languages and basic programming skills, programming experience in Perl, csh, C or C++ desired. Candidate should be familiarity with SAN/NAS storage environments and TSM backup processes. Be able to configure network printing and plotting. Understand and maintain the security and integrity of the User Systems, Compute Servers, Plot Servers, File Servers and the network. English language skill in writing and speaking is a must. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with common IC design tools with and ability to manage several concurrent projects or tasks is required. Candidate should be self-motivated, a team player and able to work with minimal supervision.
Monitor and maintain network, systems and peripherals, perform equipment troubleshooting to resolution. Diagnose and escalate hardware and software problems.
Perform new equipment installations including client, compute, file and file license servers.  Help to define and support a UNIX/Linux desktop to provide engineering and office applications.  Provide a front line/help desk/service for users.  Provide support for all end-users of the design environment including, computer systems, data storage, support equipment, EDA tools and the development environment.  Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases. 
Ensure that key personnel are aware of customer related problems.  Work with Corporate IS to ensure the remote sites needs are being addressed. Must be able to take part in a 24 hour on-call rotation.


 


Education: 


BS Computer Science or other related engineering degree
