Upstream Environmental Technician III

Waste Management is the leading provider of comprehensive waste management services to approximately 25 million residential and 2 million commercial customers nationwide.   Upstream-Houston, TX or Texas City, TX-Environmental Technician III 

Requirements:

?  Health and Safety Compliance at all times and with all tasks a must.

?  Have the ability to apply personal knowledge of RCRA, TCEQ, GLO, E&P, TSCA, OSHA and DOT regulations to daily activities.

?  Responsible for ensuring that all tasks are completed with adherence to these and applicable state environmental regulations.

?  Refinery Experience/Chemical Plant Experience-management of drum and bulk loads including bulking and 90 day pad management activities.

?  Ability and knowledge to manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste shipments including both bulk and drum shipments.

?  Ensure proper labeling and shipment windows are adhered to.

?  Ensure waste and data tracking logs are accurate and up to date.

?  Ability to conduct weekly inspections and complete the associated inspection logs.

?  General knowledge of waste profiling, lab analysis, waste determination, E&P exemptions.

?  Provide field support within oil and gas refineries, chemical manufacturing complexes for all waste related activities.

?  Have a good understanding of waste disposal, recycling, co-product, and re-use options.

?  Catalyst handling and recycling experience is a plus

?  Have a good understanding of Best Business Practices, Cost Savings, Cost Avoidance, Metrics, Benchmarking, and KPI?s.

?  Ability to manage all waste documents and billing documents.

?  Ability to attend pre-planning meetings, provide budgetary cost analysis, and manage an event or project.

?  Ensure subcontract haulers adhere to plant and environmental regulations.

?  Ensure proper labeling, placarding and manifesting procedures are adhered to.

 

Qualifications:

?  BS, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Chemistry, Biology or other related field.

?  Knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, OSHA, DOT and TCEQ regulations

?  40 Hour Hazwoper training required.

?  1-2 years of hands-on environmental field experience.

?  Has worked in positions without direct supervision.  Demonstrated ability to manage their own time and independently complete tasks.

?  Candidate has worked at a refinery or petrochemical manufacturing complex.

?  Knowledge of the industrial services industry and nomenclature.

?  Knowledge of portable tanks and roll-off box technical specification and nomenclature.

?  Ability to operate a 5000 lb forklift, horizontal/vertical drum crusher, drum dolly, drum tilter, and drum grabbers.

?  Ability to operate ? ton pick up truck/automatic transmission.

?  Overnight travel required-ability to travel periodically.

?  Candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense.
