Value Engineer

Our Sensors & Monitoring Business Unit  is an industry innovator in aircrew data management and engine performance monitoring, built on over a half a century of experience as a principle aerospace equipment supplier. Our customers range from leading airframe and engine OEMs to airlines and aircraft integrators around the world. Over the years, AMETEK Aerospace has developed a comprehensive line of sophisticated multi-parameter cockpit indicators and display systems, engine and aircraft condition monitoring systems, data acquisition and signal processing systems, fuel and fluid gauging mass fuel flow measurement, engine sensors and cable harness assemblies.

 

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Value Engineer in either our Wilmington, MA or Costa Mesa, CA locations.

 

In this position,  you will provide engineering support by focusing on cost reduction using technical / engineering efforts versus standard purchasing negotiations. Engineering changes for cost reduction and alternate sourcing is expected to be a primary focus.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

Collect data and identify best commodity part candidates for cost reduction using re-design, purchase agreements, alternate suppliers, or any method to improve PPV.

Evaluate parts or processes that may be consolidated to improve quantity purchases and buyer leverage. Develop and implement method for scheduled / continuous PPV improvements.

 

Qualifications include BSEE, MSEE preferred, with 5+ yrs experience in commodity support. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with 6-Sigma methodology, the proven ability to navigate through military and aerospace engineering change requirements; and the sound understanding of materials, mechanical design, purchasing and manufacturing techniques. Ability to estimate the cost of a machined part. Additional requirements include proficiency in negotiation skills, written and oral communication, multitasking and organizational skills. Anticipated travel is no more than 10%.
