Visible/IR Sensor Engineer-GOV

Job Description:
This is a Government Solutions, Inc. position on an Alternate Benefit Plan (no Pension). Sorry, interview travel expenses and relocation funds not available. Active TS/SSBI clearance is required to begin work.

Performs technical planning, system integrations, engineering design evaluations, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Perform analysis on developing contractors designs for SBSS spacecraft sensor (IR-Visible). Analyses are performed at all acquisition levels to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Recommends alternatives to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner. Ability to provide a wide variety of acquisition technical analyses, and program management support to a government customer. Have a working knowledge of system acquisitions, specifically in Air Force and DoD environments, covering the DoD 5000 series and National Security Space (NSS) 03-01 policies.

Required Skills: Minimum of 10 years experience that includes the following: relevant experience with various spacecraft sensors and design, acquisition or operational experience, development of requirements, specifications; and proposals; familiar with a variety of acquisition concepts, phases, practices, and procedures, ability to perform a detailed design evaluation, participate in technical studies, performance reviews, and risk management process; ability to function in a multi-contractor/customer environment, performs a variety of complicated tasks, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected; demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills; and effective written and oral communication skills required. Some travel is required.

Experience: Familiarity with SBSS mission, SSTS mission, GEODDS a plus.
Education: BS degree required and MS preferred in Physics/Optics or Astro Engineering.
