Inter-Tel is currently seeking a VoIP Systems Engineer. The VoIP Systems Engineer will design, develop, and test complex networks, gateways and servers to include network distribution software for Linux-based systems.

*Perform complex product design activities that include developing, testing and modifying operating systems, compilers, utilities and other systems/network software.
*Prepare real-world test environments, and then debug test cases in line with company methodologies.
*Analyze information to determine, recommend and plan installation of enhancements, modifications, upgrades of all new systems of a complex nature.
*Produce system and user documentation for systems/networks.
*Maintain and enhance technology expertise by researching new technology, gathering competitive information, attending trainings, seminars, or other technical-related conferences or seminars.
*Assist with the management of projects on project-by-project basis, to include procurement, integration and deployment of resources and technology.
*Train less experienced staff and act as a resource for escalated questions and issues.

Requires:
*7+ years of directly related experience in network systems engineering, operations, and design. (full lifecycle)
*5+ years experience with Linux system administration and development tools
*7+ years experience with Windows operating environment.
*Should be proficient in router and switch configurations, to include troubleshooting of both hardware and operating systems in network-related infrastructure.
*Expertise on networking protocols and standards, including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SIP, TCP/IP, transfer protocols, etc. as well as all wide-area and wireless related protocols.
*Expertise in low-level, packet-based diagnostics using TCPDUMP, Ethereal, and other capturing based technologies.
*Telecom/Telephony industry experience including transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operations of telecommunications systems
*Bachelor's Degree
