The Wastewater Treatment Research Engineer will be part of the PTA Current Technology Development team in the Global PTA Technology department. This team is focused on developing near-term PTA process technology improvements that will increase profitability and operating performance of new and existing PTA assets. Team members work closely with other members of the Global PTA Technology department as well as PTA manufacturing personnel.


 


Accountabilities Include:

Develop and implement improvements to PTA wastewater treatment (WWT) technologies, which include fixed-film anaerobic, upflow anaerobic sludge bed (UASB), and aerobic systems.
Participate in WWT technology development projects, including options for improving UASB granulation and conversion and membrane bioreactor testing.
Evaluate and implement options for sludge minimization.
Participate in the design and start-up of new waste treatment plants.
Participate in the development of new water and wastewater reuse and recycle technologies.
Evaluate WWT technology options, develop and conduct laboratory and plant-scale test plans, and recommend WWT technology improvements for current and future PTA assets.
Provide technical assistance to PTA manufacturing personnel operating wastewater treatment systems.
Deliver on project goals and accountabilities accurately and on time.
Provide reliable and appropriate analysis, interpretation, and documentation toward the delivery of project goals.
Communicate effectively with team members and exhibit a strong positive attitude toward teamwork.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Wastewater Treatment Research Engineer applicants must have:


 

Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
A minimum of a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
A minimum of 5 years of experience with industrial biological wastewater treatment systems.
The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and globally, in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
The willingness and ability to relocate to or commute on a daily basis to Naperville, IL.


Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in the successful development and implementation of industrial chemical process technology.
