Water Resources Engineer - Project Manager

As CDM's North Central Region continues to develop new client business while servicing pre-existing client relationships, the organization has an opening within the Chicago office for a Senior Level Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager. The Engineer will be a part of the CDM team in Chicago, responsible for providing technical oversight of; DFIRM process, scheduling, financial management, quality assurance, and quality control of assigned task orders. The Engineer will also oversee organization and maintenance for project workflow processes as it relates to updates for Flood Insurance Studies, and will utilize the FEMA MIP Production Tools for uploading relevant information. Other responsibilities for the role will include: Coordinating client and stakeholder meetings; project planning and guidance; preparing detailed cost estimates for any or all components of Flood Insurance Studies; Identifying Issues & providing issue resolution/solution alternatives; forecasting workload needs and identifying technical resources for project execution; developing and maintaining strong client relationships; and assisting with process improvement as it relates to engineering and GIS Automation.

The right candidate for the Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager will have at least 7 years experience dealing in water / wastewater/ transportation Engineering /Planning, with specific experience dealing with Flood Insurance Studies including scoping and outreach, community adoption, and government / regulatory compliance. The Engineer must have knowledge of hydrologic/hydraulic analysis of riverine/coastal systems; experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-2, HEC-HMS for proper application and consistency with standard engineering practice; understanding of FEMA MIP Tools, Data Capture Standards as relates to Map Modernization Program; solid understanding of GIS mapping applications, environment and data formats; and strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills. The Water Resources Engineer must demonstrate competencies in cost estimating, cost benefit analysis, budgeting and budget analysis, planning scheduling, and must possess Strong Strategic Decision Making Capability. The right candidate must be degreed for civil/ environmental engineering (PE certification required). Candidate must be available for travel as needed to support FEMA Regional and Disaster Response Contracts. Background screen will be conducted on successful candidate.
