Weld Engineer

We currently have a direct hire employment opportunity in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi for a Weld Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities: Recommends preventive maintenance and repairs to welding equipment including robotic systems. Designs and specifies fixture tooling. Reviews and recommends welding equipment, welding consumable, electrical and mechanical systems, robotic systems, and any related components associated with the welding process. Evaluates processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld efficiency. Interfaces with manufacturing and maintenance to resolve welding and welding system issues. Assists in the integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment. Supports project engineering on new and existing programs relating to welding. Assists QC department in maintaining weld integrity. Provides support in the analysis and resolution of weld equipment failures and development of PM schedules of robotic equipment. Develops and documents acceptable parameters for all welding processes. Trains personnel in welding processes and robotic application techniques. Robot programming. Other duties as required.

Qualifications: BS/BA Degree in related area of engineering. Minimum of 5 years related experience. Knowledge of electrical systems, robotic troubleshooting and PLC programming experience. Candidate must have experience with GMAW in a manufacturing environment (min requirement of robotic welding). AWS certification preferred.
