Weld Engineer - Senior

Progressive Tier I auto supplier has opportunity for an experienced Weld Engineer with excellent technical, leadership, and follow-up skills. 

 

Weld Engineer Duties and Responsibilities:
* Recommends preventative maintenance and repairs to welding equipment including robotic systems.
* Designs and specifies fixture tooling.
* Reviews and recommends welding equipment, welding consumable, electrical and mechanical systems, robotic systems, and any related components associated with the welding process.
* Evaluates processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld efficiency.
* Interfaces with manufacturing and maintenance to resolve welding and welding system issues.
* Assists in the integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment.
* Supports project engineering on new and existing programs relating to welding.
* Assists QC department in maintaining weld integrity.
* Provides support in the analysis and resolution of weld equipment failures and development of PM schedules of robotic equipment.
* Develops and documents acceptable parameters for all welding processes.
* Trains personnel in welding processes and robotic application techniques.
* Robot programming.
* Other duties as required.

Qualifications:
* BS/BA Degree
* Minimum of 5 years related experience
* Knowledge of electrical systems, robotic troubleshooting and PLC programming experience.
* Candidate must have experience with GMAW in a manufacturing environment (min requirement of robotic welding).
* AWS certification preferred.
